At the beginning of September, this year’s clean-up operation in Andøy ended. In total, 70% of Andøya’s western beach zone was cleared.
Just under 600 cubic metres of marine debris were cleared. This had a total weight of just under 50,000 kilos.
The bulk of this comes from the fishing industry. We found a lot of pieces of rope, balls of yarn and plastic cans, to name a few.
We are incredibly proud of our cleaners from JobZone Hålogaland who have been working from early to late and in all kinds of weather.
At the same time, we look ahead and look forward to clearing parts of Øksnes and Bø as soon as the snow disappears in the spring.
